Focal is sunsetting

Hi everyone,

Today we have some exciting news to share. After three years of building Focal, we have received and signed an acquisition offer. Although we cannot share additional details about the transaction at this time, we're excited about the next chapter for Focal and its team.

We have found tremendous joy in building this product for you over the past several years. We've helped well over a million users make videos from romance anime to biblical parables, and it's been a joy to experience your creativity and passion every day.

As part of the transition, we will be winding down the existing product. We know that this will be disappointing for many of you, but we are committed to making this process as smooth and painless as possible.

The rest of this post has details about what to expect. We are tremendously grateful for your support over the years.

The Focal Team

Timeline

• You will not be charged again. Your subscription will be cancelled at the end of the current billing period. You keep full access to Focal until your plan expires. This will give you time to wrap up any projects that you have in progress. If you need additional credits, you may purchase them.
• After your subscription expires, creating new projects and generating new media will be disabled. You can still sign in to view, export, and download everything you've made.
• Focal will remain online until September 1, 2026. After this, the website will go offline for good and your data will no longer be accessible. This is your deadline to export your data.

Exporting Your Data

You can download all of your work — every project's media, its JSON, and a rendered MP4 — with the Export all projects button on your projects page. The export runs in your browser and saves everything in your account into a folder you choose, so be sure to keep the tab open until it finishes. It can take a while, so don't wait until the last day to start. Exporting requires a Chromium-based browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. You can also download individual projects by clicking the Export button on each project page.
